When the famous “Jedermann!” Shouts were first heard over the cathedral square in the summer of 1920, the First World War was just over a year and a half. Since then, artists and audiences on the Salzach have experienced eventful and moving years.

“The Magician's Dreams - A Century of Salzburg Festival History” reviews a unique success story. The focus is always on the legendary theater magician Max Reinhardt, who launched the festival 100 years ago together with the poet Hugo von Hofmannsthal and the composer Richard Strauss.
